Kilchoman released the Loch Gorm 2026 Edition on 17 April 2026, the new annual sherry release from the Islay farm distillery. Ten years of full oloroso maturation, 46% ABV, non chill-filtered and no colour added.
Release details
The 23 casks come from Bodega José y Miguel Martín in Jerez: 20 first fill and 3 refill, in Spanish and French oak. For founder Anthony Wills, 10 years is the sweet spot for Kilchoman’s sherry maturation: the oloroso is present but doesn’t overpower the spirit, first-fill casks drive the tannic structure, while the refill ones balance with dark chocolate and orange peel.
Profile and tasting notes
The 50 ppm peated barley holds its own against the cask. From the official notes: on the nose, dried red fruits, barbecued meats, toasted walnuts and rich peat smoke; on the palate, candied orange and tropical fruits, salted caramel and dried prunes with cinnamon and nutmeg; the finish runs long on spices, toasted dark chocolate and liquorice over integrated peat.
The Loch Gorm is Kilchoman’s sherry-matured annual release, out since 2013 and named after the largest peat-rimmed loch on Islay, northwest of the distillery. UK RRP is £63.33 (around €73-75). Distribution rolls out across the UK and Europe from 17 April; for other markets, local stockists or the distillery’s online shop are the reference points.
