Compass Box: full recipe on the new 10 year old

Bottiglia di Compass Box This is a 10-Year-Old Whisky con la ricetta scritta in etichetta

Compass Box unveiled a blended malt called This is a 10-Year-Old Whisky on 23 September 2026. The label carries the full recipe: how much whisky from each distillery is in the bottle, down to the decimal point.

Release details

The whisky is bottled at 50.5% in 3,610 numbered bottles, on sale from 26 September 2026 through The Whisky Exchange at £64. The stated blend is 10 year old Clynelish for 66.5% of the total, 10 year old peated Ardnamurchan for 20.2% and unpeated Ardnamurchan for 13.3%, all matured in first-fill bourbon casks.

The bottle marks ten years of the campaign in which Compass Box has been asking to be allowed to print the make-up of its whiskies on the label, something the UK Scotch regulations forbid, since the only age that can appear is that of the youngest whisky in the blend. Hence the name, which is a statement rather than a title.

Why that 20.2% matters

In blended malts the peated part is almost always described in words and rarely in figures: you read “a touch of smoke”, “a hint of peat”, and everyone pictures something different. Here we know the peated whisky is a fifth of the total, and that it comes from Ardnamurchan, a west coast distillery that makes both peated and unpeated spirit.

A figure like that says more than a tasting note: a fifth of peated whisky is enough to mark the other four fifths. It is the flip side of the PPM declared on the malt: not how much smoke was in the barley, but how much peated whisky ended up in the blend.
