On 19 August 2026 Bowmore released the Captivo Collection, two 20-year-old single malts created in collaboration with New York design studio Snarkitecture: Oak Voyage and Sherry Cask Pursuit. The permanent range skips this age, jumping from the 18 Year Old straight to the 25. The packaging reads “Edition 01, Release 2026”, and Bowmore presents it as the opening chapter of a series.

Release details

Oak Voyage is bottled at 50.8% and costs £312 on the distillery website, $360 in the US and a recommended €360 in Europe. From 1 September 2026 it is also sold at Harrods in London, with the US, Asia, Northern Europe and Canada to follow. Sherry Cask Pursuit is bottled at 51.8% and costs £320, or $380: it is sold only in travel retail and online to My Bowmore members. The distillery has not disclosed an outturn. No Italian retailer is listing either bottle as of 7 September 2026.

Maturation and casks

Oak Voyage spent twenty years in American oak ex-bourbon casks before finishing in Oloroso sherry butts made from the same American wood. The official notes list dark cherry, candied orange, manuka honey, eucalyptus and toasted oak, with vanilla and a touch of campfire smoke at the end. Sherry Cask Pursuit matured in Spanish oak casks that held Oloroso sherry and in American oak ex-bourbon casks, then finished in Oloroso hogsheads: tropical fruit, black pepper and smoked toffee, moving to sweet peat and charred mango on the close. Calum Fraser, master blender at Suntory Global Spirits, says both share the same core of citrus, sweetness and light smoke, with the cask type doing the rest of the work.

The Snarkitecture project

Snarkitecture is the New York studio founded by Alex Mustonen, and Captivo is its first whisky project. Mustonen travelled to Islay and drew on the island’s landscape and on the No.1 Vaults, the maturation warehouse below sea level. The result is a black box with a portal-shaped opening, pink for Oak Voyage and red for Sherry Cask Pursuit. Between 2019 and 2024 Bowmore worked with Aston Martin on releases such as the Black Bowmore DB5 in 2020 and the ARC-52 in 2022. With Captivo, Bowmore swaps a car maker for a design studio.

Of the two, Oak Voyage is the only one sold outside airports. Northern Europe is among the markets announced for autumn 2026, so the recommended €360 is the price to expect in Italy too. Sherry Cask Pursuit costs £8 more and is available only in duty free or through a My Bowmore account: tasting the two side by side means going through an airport.
