Ardbeg Trudernish 15 Joins the Core Range

Ardbeg Trudernish 15 anni, bottiglia e astuccio

On 31 August 2026, Ardbeg added Trudernish, a 15-year-old, to the core range. It is the first addition to the range since the 25 Years Old in January 2021. Trudernish goes on sale on 15 September 2026 at the visitor centre, Ardbeg Embassies and specialist retailers, though the official site already shows it as sold out.

Release details

Ardbeg Trudernish is bottled at 48.8% and costs £80 in the UK, $89.99 in the US. In Italy, pre-orders opened at €79 including shipping, with deliveries starting on 15 September. In the distillery’s price list, Trudernish sits between An Oa (£54) and Corryvreckan (£88). The whisky won a Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2026. The name comes from the ancient settlement of Trudernish, on Islay’s Enchanted Cape. Local legend says that the water of the village well never freezes, and that anyone who takes home a pebble from nearby Claggain Bay will one day return to the island. We first reported on Trudernish at the end of August 2025, more than a year before the launch: the bottle was known to be coming, at 15 years and 48.8%, but its place in the core range was only a rumour.

Maturation and casks

Trudernish matures in ex-bourbon barrels, new charred oak and Oloroso sherry casks. In the official notes, the nose opens with earthy peat and woodsmoke wrapped in vanilla, then melted ice cream and fudge sauce. Pine resin, heather honey, green apple and pear follow. The palate brings pine, damp forest floor, liquorice, chocolate lime and a touch of mint. The finish is long: peat embers, vanilla pod and toasted nuts. Bill Lumsden, Director of Whisky Creation, says the extra years have softened the smoke.

Core range redesign

Ardbeg will also redesign the whole core range from autumn 2026. Boxes and labels will keep the black livery, but each expression will carry its own earthy accent colour. Woodcut-style illustrations will set out the origin of each name, the cask recipe and the flavour profile. Only the packaging changes: the whisky inside stays the same. The core range now comprises Ten, Wee Beastie, An Oa, Trudernish, Uigeadail, Corryvreckan and 25 Years Old.

With a 15-year age statement at 48.8%, Trudernish sits below the two higher-strength no-age-statement bottlings, Uigeadail (54.2%) and Corryvreckan (57.1%), and above the Ardbeg 10 (46%). There is no official Italian price yet, beyond the €79 pre-order.
